This note is a work in progress

Introduction

The following is our attempt to diligently extract of all Bible verses which talk about the Father and the Son together. If we have missed some verses, please feel free to give us your feedback on it. These are not verses which speak of the Father alone, nor the Son alone, but rather TOGETHER.

This extraction is beneficial to study for several reasons:

  1. Having the ability to recognize the Son of God in the Old Testament
  2. Understanding the consistent Biblical record calling the Father JHVH. It is important to note there are several instances which point to Christ as JHVH, but those instances are not in the set of verses which speak of the Father and the Son TOGETHER - see Who is JHVH. When the Father and the Son are TOGETHER, it is always seen that the Father is called by the name JHVH. This is a consistent occurrence. In order to better understand the who is speaking in the Old Testament, check The Principle of God’s Revelation.
  3. Understanding the Covenant between the Father and the Son

Guide

Subtitles: Each instance of the joint occurrence of the Father and the Son has been titled. These titles are addressable by link, and are visible in the Table of Content on the right side.

Scoring: I (Michael) have also tried to score these instances on a scale from 1 - 5, representing how clearly that particular instance speaks about the Father and the Son. This is just my estimate, necessary for me to navigate through the data easily. One start (⭐️) means that the verse is not a clear joint occurrence of the Father and the Son, and in order to get to that conclusion, the interpretation needs to be employed. Five stars (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) mean that the verse is an obvious well know verse speaking about the Father and the Son - i.e. Psalm 110:1.

The Covenant Between the Father and the Son: There are many verses which talk about the Plan of Salvation revealed in the Covenant between the Father and the Son. Those instances have been marked by the 🤝 emoji.

Also, I will try to give a short explanation of why I believe these verses reveal joint occurrences of the Father and the Son. Sometimes it will link to another note, and sometimes there will be a dead link. Those dead links are future articles to be written.

Genesis

Creation of Man - 2/5 ⭐️⭐️

  1. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
  2. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

The Father created man through His Son. See Let Us Create and Everything Was Created Through Son.

The Curse - 3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

  1. And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

God is speaking about His Son. The Father is putting enmity between satan and woman’s seed - His Son.

Prevention - 1/5 ⭐️

  1. And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

One of Us - The Father (JHVH) is speaking to His Son.

The Promise to Abraham - 3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🤝

  1. Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
  2. And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
  3. And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

As in antitype of Abraham and God, so in the type of the Father and the Son: the Father (JHVH) is speaking to His Son, to get out of Heaven - His country, from His kindred, from His Father’s house, unto the earth. And the promise is to make great nation. For more information see Christ - Everlasting Father.

The Promise of Inheritance - 3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🤝

  1. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.

Typifying the Father and the Son and their Covenant: The Father (JHVH) promises His inheritance - saved people. See Isaiah 8:18 and Hebrews 2:13.

The Covenant between God and Abram - 3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🤝

  1. And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
  2. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
  3. And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
  4. As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
  5. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
  6. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
  7. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
  8. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
  9. And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

Abram is the antitype of Christ. God (JHVH) is making a covenant with His Son. Out of His Son, the kings shall come out. And God will give His Son His seed, and the new promised Earth. Then the Father will be their God (See Ezekiel 34:23-24 and Ezekiel 37:22-28). For more information see Abraham as Antitype and Christ - the Everlasting Father.

Sacrificing Isaac - 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🤝

1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
15 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

The Father and the Son are revealed in two fold way. One is through the type and antitype, and another one is in fact. The Angel of the LORD (JHVH) is Christ Himself, speaking the words of His Father (JHVH) in the first person - see The Principle of God’s Revelation.
