There’s something strange that was begun
That says three equals equal one.
This formula great men devised
Which made them feel so very wise.
The doctrine called the trinity,
It really is a mystery.
And though they try to make it plain,
A mystery, it must remain.
They thought they figured out our God;
It sounded good, and they were awed,
Declaring Father, Spirit, Son,
Three equal Gods which equal one.
‘Twas in Nicaea it began
And Constantine became a fan,
But Alexander did his part
To place this doctrine on the chart.
Oh yes, it caused a great debate,
And stirred up wicked, cruel hate,
And millions who did not agree
Were put to death mercilessly.
This formula became the law,
As all the nations stood in awe,
Three horns were plucked up by the roots
Because they were not in cahoots.
And so the years, they rolled on,
But yet this formula waxed strong,
And all the world must now agree
Three Gods are one, all equally.
And even when Reformers rose
With added light, new paths they chose,
Yet, those who turned from trinity
They said, adopted heresy.
It can’t be found within God’s Word
In ancient times, it was not heard.
But now, held by most everyone,
They say three equals equal one.
And though not founded biblically,
Not found through study prayerfully,
You’ve got to say it like the rest,
The three are one, that is the test.
And yet, some think, what’s going on?
This is a great phenomenon!
Let’s take the Bible as it reads,
And not depend on human creeds.
But No! Church leaders still insist,
You have no choice, you can’t resist!
It’s been determined, it is done,
We say, Three equals equal one.
But let us pause and think this through,
Is this strange doctrine really true?
Did not it come from Babylon?
Three equal Gods which equal one?
But churchmen say, we must assume
That this is true, for we presume
That speculation got it right,
So we will never yield this fight.
And so they love the trinity,
It makes them feel in unity,
But there are some who study deep,
And precious truth they want to keep.
The Bible says, The Lord is one,
Beside this one true God is none.
So plain, a simple child may read
Straight from God’s Word, not from a creed.
God has a dear, beloved Son,
Christ Jesus, the begotten One,
God gave His Son to die for all
If on His blessed name we call.
And then God’s Spirit He’ll impart
To dwell within each humble heart.
The life of Jesus dwells within,
To give us vict’ry over sin.
The truth that God, His own Son, gave
It shows His love, His pow’r to save
It melts our hearts, so we repent
And praise Him for His Son He sent.
The Father and His only Son,
In character and purpose – one.
We are united with Them, too
So all of us are one, it’s true
With personalities distinct,
Yet by the Spirit we are linked,
And that is how our God is one
With His begotten, only Son.
We have an urgent, desperate need
To turn from false, deceptive creed,
And let God’s Spirit purify
With holy truth to sanctify.
Let’s read the Bible carefully,
God’s Spirit speaks to you and me
We need discernment to be wise,
Anointing for our inner eyes.
As free in Christ, we will not cling
To what the Athanasians bring,
Which told us Father, Spirit, Son
Three equal Gods which equal one.
We want to know, what saith the Lord.
We need Christ’s Spirit—quick’ning sword
To cut the error from our soul
And make us spiritually whole.
So let us pray with holy urge,
That all false doctrines God will purge,
Then truth will shine with pure light
So we may understand what’s right.
No longer bound by creedal rule
We find the truth a precious jewel
And though they cast us out with scorn,
We have no fear; we’ve been reborn.
Our Precious Father, one true God,
And His begotten Son we laud,
God’s Holy Spirit He will send
Our Comforter until the end.
Content within Their fellowship,
We cling to Them with faithful grip,
The Father, Son and Spirit too,
This trio, that will make us new.
This treasured truth that we have found
Brings us great joy that does abound.
The truth of God has made us free,
We’ll praise Him for eternity!
