Abstract

Jesus Christ consistently acknowledged and testified that the Father is His God, maintaining this declaration throughout His earthly ministry, after His resurrection, and even in His glorified state.

Jesus explicitly testified that the Father is His God. During His crucifixion, He cried out to His Father as His God.

46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

After His resurrection, Jesus made a clear distinction between His relationship with the Father and ours, affirming the Father as His God, just as He is ours.

17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

The divine anointing of the Son by God the Father further establishes this relationship. While Jesus Himself is called God, His Father remains His God.

9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

This sacred truth finds its foundation in ancient prophecy.

6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Even in His glorified state, decades after His ascension, Jesus continues to acknowledge the Father as His God four times in a single verse.

12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

This truth is further confirmed by the apostles Paul and Peter in their writings.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Our Heavenly Father is the Father as well God to our Lord Jesus Christ.
