4. Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5. And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
29. And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30. And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
32. And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
33. And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
34. And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
The response which the scribe gave to Jesus was a discreet answer. Which means that his interpretation of Deuteronomy 6:4-5 was correct! Jesus said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he. There are no more than one, and there are no other than that particular one. Who is He? He is the Father - the God of the Jews.
Jesus' application of Deuteronomy 6:
13. Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
10. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Obviously Jesus is referring to one person only, and exclusively. That is His Father.
We do not err by worshiping Christ, since the Father (the God from Deuteronomy 6) said that we should give worship His Son, and therefore it cannot be sin to worship God's Son, since it is the command of God: Hebrews 1:6; Philippians 2:9-11; John 5:22-23; Revelation 5:11-14; Matthew 28:17;
16. Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
7. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Obviously He was referring to His Father as the one God.
4. As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
6. But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
3. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee [Jesus praying to the Father] the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
10. Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us?...
6. One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
